Curiosity. Whimsy. Wonder. Beauty.

“Beauty will save the world.” - Dostoevsky

For me, photography is about holding onto a sense of childlike wonder. It is an exercise in searching for beauty. So many of us bury our curiosity. We’re afraid of the idea that we don’t already know everything. We’re afraid to appear ignorant or immature. We’re afraid to face reality that is so much bigger and more complex than we want it to be. It seems much easier to make assumptions and jump to conclusions than it does to lean into curiosity. It’s killing us!

A good photograph tells a story. It transports us to a different place and gives us something to be curious about.

From beautiful birds and people doing amazing things to trash bags floating in the Gulf of Mexico, there is so much beauty and ugliness in this world.

I hope this portfolio raises some questions for you. I hope it stokes your sense of wonder.

“If we can create safe spaces to be inner explorers of fears and doubts, mysteries and wonders, and explore those places together, we'll see a world with more heart. More listening. More sharing. More exploring. More inviting.”

- Brad Montague, Becoming Better Grownups

“A joyful rebellion is you living differently not because you're mad at how things are but because you are swelling with joy at the thought of how things could be. When you joyfully rebel against your circumstances, against mediocrity or negativity, you invite others into something really beautiful.”

- Brad Montague, Kid President's Guide to Being Awesome
