The East Texas Showdown is a 420 mile bikepacking race in the Piney Woods region between Livingston and Tyler. Taking place over 3 days, riders take all kinds of approaches to the challenge. From fast-and-light with as little sleep as possible to steady-and-comfortable for riders who want more of a tour. The race offers 3 distances so the diversity of riders and setups makes for an awesome event atmosphere.
This year, 150 riders participated. People come from all over the U.S. to participate. The community is incredibly supportive and the atmosphere is so much fun. Seen here, Jacob Loos descends and climbs one of the few paved roads on route. Jacob would go on to complete the Arkansas High Country Race and the Tour Divide from Banff, Canada to Antelope Wells, NM later in the year. For some, the 400+ miles of the ETS are a warm-up. For others, it is the accomplishment of a lifetime.
